Imaging/Radiology Services

The Radiology/Imaging Services Department at San Antonio Regional Hospital is organized into three major components:
Medical Imaging, Interventional Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine.

Scheduling

If your doctor's order indicates that your Radiology/Imaging exam needs to be scheduled, scheduling for all locations can be done by utilizing the link below, “Online Scheduling Radiology/Imaging”, or if you prefer, by calling our Radiology Services Scheduling Line at 909.948.8166, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
Radiology/Imaging exams cannot be done without a doctor's order.

Registration

We encourage you to pre-register by contacting a pre-registration representative at 909.948.8166 weekdays, from 8 am to 5 pm. Pre-registration will enable you to come directly to the Radiology Department for your appointment. If you do not pre-register, you will need to report to the Outpatient Registration Department at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment time.

Scope of Services

Diagnostic and interventional radiology services are tests that help your physician diagnose and treat your condition. The following services are offered:

General radiography (X-ray)
DXA scan - bone density (osteoporosis screening)
Digital mammography and stereotactic breast biopsy
Diagnostic ultrasonography (ultrasound)
Angiography
Interventional radiology (image-guided procedures via CT, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy)
64-slice head and body CT scanning
PET scanning
1.5 Tesla wide bore and 3 Tesla MRI (magnetic resonance imaging)

Certifications and Accreditations

All of our Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance (MR) technologists are registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Our mammography service is accredited by the American College of Radiology and certified by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) through the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) program.

Filmless Technology

All imaging facilities have a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), which uses digital imaging technology rather than x-ray film, to record radiology images. Physicians can view the digital images and accompanying reports using the latest Internet technology. The Hospital's secure server, firewall protection, and physician access protocol ensure the confidentiality of individual patient information.

The images can be stored on a CD, and securely archived as long-term patient records. This user-friendly system allows for quicker reporting, viewing at multiple locations, and instant access to previous studies.
